V3.9 is live — ESCAPE_REINIT fixed, DCA exit ladder deployed
V3.9 is live — ESCAPE_REINIT fixed, DCA exit ladder deployed
Two updates went live on the V3.7 Narrow Scalper today. V3.9-A patches a reinitialisation bug that could leave the grid stuck after a bear-halt escape. V3.9-B adds a proper exit ladder to DCA positions: each one now gets a limit sell order placed at open, at a specific price target. The bot has eight open DCA positions right now. BTC is at $58,304. Neither fix does much at $58K, but they’re in place for when conditions change.
Key takeaways
- V3.9-A deployed: ESCAPE_REINIT fix bundle. Grid reinit after bear-halt escape now works correctly.
- V3.9-B deployed: DCA exit ladder. Each new position gets a tiered sell target and a standing limit order at open.
- 8 DCA positions open: bought at $66,288–$68,541, sell targets at $67,614–$69,912. All waiting on BTC recovery.
- Grid: 35 trades, 35 wins, $3.29 realized P&L. No new entries since June 23. Regime filter holding.
- BTC at $58,304. ADX blocking, Fear & Greed at 15 (Extreme Fear). RSI at 14.2.
V3.9-A: the ESCAPE_REINIT problem
V3.7 has a bear halt escape hatch. When the bot has been stuck in bear regime for 8+ cycles, it recentres the grid and attempts to reinitialise. The idea is to give the bot a way out of indefinite bear-halt lockup when BTC shifts but the regime hasn’t fully cleared.
The bug was in what happened immediately after that escape attempt. If the ADX or Fear & Greed gate blocked the reinit, the bot cleared the _escape_reinit_needed flag regardless. Next cycle: the flag was gone, the bot had no memory of needing to reinit, and it just waited. The escape had no real escape.
A second issue: in cases where recentre did complete successfully, the grid reinit wasn’t firing at all. The sequence ran through recentre and stopped before reinit. A third: the log guard was emitting repeatedly, making it hard to trace when this was happening.
The V3.9-A fix bundle addresses all three. The reinit flag is preserved when a gate blocks the attempt. The reinit step now runs after a successful recentre. Log output is down to one line per event. The capital gap research from TASK-779 traced roughly $465 in missing capital back to this failure path. Positions that should have been entered after an escape never were, because the grid never reinitialised.
V3.9-B: the DCA exit ladder
V3.7 runs a DCA accumulation sleeve alongside the main grid. When BTC drops into bear regime, the bot opens small accumulation positions on a schedule, buying in batches of roughly $49–$50 USDC every two hours or so. It builds a cost-averaged position intended to profit on recovery.
Previously those positions were just held. No sell order was placed when a position opened. The exit logic was deferred to a later step that wasn’t well-defined.
V3.9-B changes that. Now each DCA position gets a sell target calculated at open, and a limit sell order is placed on Binance immediately. The targets are tiered, so as BTC recovers positions unwind in sequence rather than all at once. The spread between buy price and sell target varies by position, creating the ladder effect.
You can see this in the current state. The eight open positions were bought in early June, all in the $66k–$68k range. Their limit orders are sitting at:
| Buy price | Amount (BTC) | Cost (USDC) | Sell target |
|---|---|---|---|
| $68,541 | 0.00072 | $49.35 | $69,912 |
| $67,855 | 0.00073 | $49.53 | $69,212 |
| $67,497 | 0.00074 | $49.95 | $68,847 |
| $67,211 | 0.00074 | $49.74 | $68,556 |
| $67,076 | 0.00074 | $49.64 | $68,417 |
| $67,003 | 0.00074 | $49.58 | $68,343 |
| $66,861 | 0.00074 | $49.48 | $68,198 |
| $66,288 | 0.00075 | $49.72 | $67,614 |
BTC is at $58,304 today. Every one of those sell targets is $9,000 to $11,600 away. The orders are standing, but they’re not going anywhere soon.

The grid has been silent since June 23. ADX is at 30.85 (threshold exceeded, blocking new entries). Fear & Greed is 15 (Extreme Fear), also blocking. RSI is at 14.2. The bot is in bear regime and has been for a while; 50 consecutive blocked cycles as of the last state update.
V3.8 ETH Grid is still parked. V3.9 runs on V3.7 only.
What the V3.9 fixes mean in practice
The ESCAPE_REINIT fix only activates if BTC recovers enough to pull V3.7 out of bear halt. Specifically: 8+ consecutive halt cycles stack up and conditions then improve. If that happens, the bot recentres and reinitialises the grid. Before V3.9-A, it would recentre and then stop. Now it completes the sequence.
The DCA exit ladder is already active. Eight limit orders are sitting on Binance right now, set during the V3.9-B deployment. If BTC climbs back through $67k–$70k, those orders fill in sequence. The bot doesn’t need to decide when to exit. The targets are already there.
Neither matters much at $58,304. But the infrastructure is in place. That’s what today’s deployment was for.
V3.9-C, deployed the same day, fixes a stop-loss/limit-order conflict this patch exposed.
